How To Play Piano for Beginners, Lesson 10 || More Scales, And Playing Staccato

In this episode of the piano for absolute beginners series we learn four new scales and a new piece. As I’ve previously said, scales are a really essential part of learning to play the piano. Not only do they improve your skill and dexterity at getting around the piano keyboard, they support finger choice and teach you to find the right patterns of black and white notes instinctively across different keys.

In this tutorial we also cover how to play staccato – short, detached notes, that involve ‘bouncing’ on the piano’s keys. Being able to play staccato is a really useful skill on the piano, and it often crops up in sheet music, and is also useful when you’re improvising.
