The word arpeggio comes from the Italian word ‘arpeggiare’, which means to play on a harp!
Think of the single notes of a chord– The notes in an arp spell out the tones of the chord in an ordered, rhythmic fashion… Like the piano in Coldplay’s “Clocks”, or Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”.
